Tottenham expect Antonio Conte to receive the Government green light to take charge of his new club for the first time on Thursday night following his appointment as Nuno Espirito Santo’s successor on Tuesday.
In a landmark day at the north London club that saw Conte sign an 18 month deal, with the option for a further 12 months, worth a total of £20million, it can be revealed:
- Spurs are hopeful of receiving Conte’s work permit from the Home Office on Wednesday, clearing him to lead the team against Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday
- That the Italian addressed his new players at around 3pm on Tuesday before watching his squad train for the first time
- Talismanic striker Harry Kane is encouraged by the appointment of a genuine elite coach and is excited to work alongside Conte
- That limited funds will be made available for Conte to strengthen his team in January, but he is likely to sell players to raise funds for his primary targets, including Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic

Conte stayed the night at the club’s plush training lodgings on Monday ahead of Tuesday's noon announcement.
