Gary Lineker believes Premier League clubs have put their stars in an extremely difficult position by paying them in full while furloughing non-playing staff.

Premier League clubs Tottenham, Newcastle and Norwich have come in for heavy criticism for cutting salaries of their non-playing staff and putting them on furlough, while continuing to pay full wages to their players.

And Lineker has since told Sky News that clubs have 'thrown players under the bus' by their actions amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Match of the Day host also said that he believes Premier League players will take a salary cut eventually, whether on an individual basis or as a collective.
