Former Premier League striker Demba Ba blasts Nantes manager Antoine Kombouare after he dropped a Muslim player for refusing to break his Ramadan fast on match day

Former Newcastle star Demba Ba has hit back at Nantes manager Antoine Kombouare's comments on Ramadan, after Jaouen Hadjam was dropped from the side for refusing to break his fast.

The ex-Senegal star took to Twitter to offer a rebuttal to Kombourae's claims that players who choose to fast will not be included in matchday squads, criticising the former PSG coach's decision.

Muslims observing Ramadan - which lasts from March 22 - April 21 - will refrain from eating or drinking anything, including water, in daylight hours in a hugely important period in Islam.
