'Footballers are being made out to be ANTI-CHRISTS' by Matt Hancock and Julian Knight, claims PFA deputy chief Bobby Barnes... as he reveals some clubs have told stars they don't need pay cuts

PFA deputy Bobby Barnes believes Premier League players are being made to look like the 'anti-Christ' over their wage-deferral stand-off.

Players have been met with widespread criticism for not taking temporary cuts during the coronavirus pandemic, with the PFA standing firm in telling players not to accept the current terms being put forward.

Health secretary Matt Hancock publicly called for stars to 'play their part' while Julian Knight, the chairman of the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) committee, has also been a vocal critic.

The Premier League remains in discussions with players and is reported to have produced a proposal of 30 per cent reductions and deferrals during the period of the coronavirus pandemic in a conference call on Saturday.
