Fears over accuracy of Premier League coronavirus test results as company's chief admits they are NOT 100% reliable with nearly 10 false readings on average for every 800 tests

The company overseeing testing of Premier League players for coronavirus have sought to assuage concerns after it was revealed their results are not 100 per cent reliable.

Hong Kong-based biotechnology firm Prenetics will carry out around 800 tests, twice a week, during 'Project Restart'.

Newcastle's Danny Rose said on Tuesday that players are being treated like 'lab rats' and branded initial non-contact training sessions an 'experiment'.

Prenetics chief executive Avi Lasarow told Sportsmail that their tests were approximately 98.8 per cent accurate - in line with those conducted by the NHS.
