EXCLUSIVE: Sky Sports secure live TV rights for the inaugural women’s Indian Premier League after deciding against bidding for the men's event, with Nat Sciver-Brunt among seven England stars set to feature

Sky Sports have bought live TV rights for the inaugural women’s Indian Premier League in another significant breakthrough for the sport in this country.

The five-team competition begins this weekend with a clash between the Gujurat Giants and Mumbai Indians, with England’s Sophia Dunkley, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Issy Wong set to feature in the opening game.

Sky are understood to have agreed a deal to televise all 22 matches which will take place between 4 and 26 March, having passed up the chance to buy the rights for the men’s competition, which as Sportsmail revealed earlier this week will be shown by ITV and DAZN.
