Everton 1-0 Newcastle: Theo Walcott scores early in second half to ensure Toffees pick up all three points against in-form Magpies

Everton narrowly overcame in-form Newcastle 1-0 on Monday night thanks to a well-taken finish from Theo Walcott early in the second half.

Phil Jagielka missed the best opportunity in what was a drab first half, blazing a volley over the crossbar from close-range.

But just five minutes into the second period, the game sprung into life, with former Arsenal forward Walcott striking home into the top of the Newcastle net past Martin Dubravka.
