The Premier League's independent regulator could be in place for the 2024-25 season, according to reports, with a shadow regulator possibly in place for next term.

According to The Independent, work has already begun on a bill but it would need to be finalised before the King's speech in autumn.

The UK government unveiled a White Paper for the independent body in February, following Tracey Crouch's 2021 fan-led review into football governance.

England will become the first major nation to install a regulator, and it is believed that the other major footballing nations will be eyeing progress intently, with potential for a knock-on effect throughout the sport.
