English football officials to hold urgent meetings over worsening behaviour among supporters

Urgent meetings will take place this week amid fears over worsening fan behaviour in English football.

Officials from the Premier League, EFL and FA will hold an emergency summit with the UK Football Policing Unit.

An Everton supporter was arrested after Aston Villa’s Lucas Digne and Matty Cash were hit by a bottle as they celebrated their side’s winning goal at Goodison Park on Saturday. Roger Tweedle, 19, of Cranehurst Road, Walton, was charged with assault and throwing an item on to the pitch and will appear before magistrates next month.
