Harry Brook struck the first hundred of this year’s Indian Premier League yesterday to begin paying back his seven-figure auction fee.
The 24-year-old England star blasted Kolkata Knight Riders’ attack for an unbeaten 100 off 55 balls at Eden Gardens, to put a sticky start to his Sunrisers Hyderabad career well and truly behind him.
Brook, who has been used as an opener by the Sunrisers despite batting lower down for both Yorkshire and England, made scores of 13, 3 and 13 in his first three appearances.
But the Yorkshireman set the tone in his fourth by racing to 31 off just 11 balls, and made the most of an escape on 45 when Suyash Sharma floored a return chance, to register the second Twenty20 hundred of his career in the final over of Hyderabad’s imposing 228 for four.
