England set World Cup set-piece record

England have set a record for the most set-piece goals at a World Cup since 1966.

Kieran Trippier's early free-kick in the semi-final against Croatia on Wednesday gave the Three Lions their ninth set-piece strike of the tournament.

That goal breaks the record of eight England held along with Portugal's 1966 side heading into the semi-final in Moscow.

Overall, the Three Lions have scored nine of their 12 goals at the tournament from set pieces.

Harry Kane, the World Cup Golden Boot leader, has scored three of his six goals from penalties and another two from corner kicks.
