Emi Martinez was led away after being goaded by Arsenal supporters as the Aston Villa goalkeeper went down the tunnel after his side's heavy defeat at the Emirates on Tuesday.
Aston Villa had come into the match looking to move level on points with Premier League leaders Arsenal and strengthen claims they could be a contender in the title race.
Unai Emery's side, however, came unstuck in the second half with Gabriel opening the scoring after Martinez spilled the ball under pressure following a corner.
Martín Zubimendi, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus added to Arsenal's lead, before Ollie Watkins scored a late consolation as Aston Villa suffered a 4-1 defeat.
