Coronavirus UK: How Premier League clubs are doing their bit during the coronavirus pandemic

Several football clubs have shown generosity in the face of adversity with promises of payments to staff who cannot work due to the coronavirus crisis.

The closure of stadiums, training grounds and club shops has affected thousands of employees but Brighton and Crystal Palace are among those committed to compensating them, including stewards, catering staff and club shop workers.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich on Wednesday offered the NHS full use of Stamford Bridge's Millennium Hotel for the next two months. Asymptomatic staff from north west London hospitals will stay there to save long commutes, with Abramovich picking up all costs.
