Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is 'closing in on appointing ex-RB Leipzig chief Christopher Vivell as the club's new technical director after securing a work permit'... with the German responsible for signing Erling Haaland at RB Salzburg

Todd Boehly and Chelsea are close to formally appointing former RB Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell at Stamford Bridge.

Vivell - who masterminded the signings of Erling Haaland and Karim Adeyemi at RB Salzburg - will over see the Blues transfer policy going forward, with the club already linked with a new striker in the shape of Molde's David Datro Fofana.

He had been operating in an advisory role at Stamford Bridge since October, but after securing a work permit he is set for formal appointment to the role, as per Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
