Chelsea launch appeal to Football Association after John Terry's sending off in victory over Peterborough

Chelsea have launched an appeal to the Football Association after John Terry's dismissal in Sunday's 4-1 FA Cup third-round win over Peterborough.

Terry, who was making his first start since the EFL Cup defeat by West Ham back in October, fouled Peterborough striker Lee Angol as he raced towards goal and was shown a straight red.

Head coach Antonio Conte believed referee Kevin Friend made an incorrect decision and Terry wrote on Instagram that he would appeal against the red card and one-match ban.

Following Chelsea's win, Terry said on Instagram: 'What a great feeling being back on the pitch today, albeit only for 67 mins after my red card which I will be appealing and hope the FA and the ref will look at it and realise I didn't touch @leeangol.
