Charlton Athletic hoping to lead green revolution in football with club captain George Dobson giving up meat and looking to buy an electric car as shirt sponsors RSK address players at The Valley on key environmental issues

Football's attempts at sustainability are easy to ridicule when Premier League clubs pull on green armbands one game and take a 30-minute private flight home from the next before roaring out of the car park in a Lamborghini.

At Charlton Athletic, they are trying to make more of an impact, led by George Dobson, their club captain and sustainability ambassador, who has given up eating meat and is in the process of buying an electric car.

'We can all do a little bit to help the younger generations and protect the planet,' said midfielder Dobson, whose girlfriend Jessica is about to launch a sustainable womenswear clothing company called Love Letters and Roses.
