Carlos Vinicius has just 10 games remaining to prove himself to the Tottenham hierarchy and earn himself a permanent transfer.

The 25-year-old joined Tottenham in a season-long loan deal last summer, with a £36million option-to-buy included in his contract, having finished joint top scorer in the Primeira Liga with 18 goals in his previous campaign.

Sportsmail reported last week that Tottenham were unwilling to pay the full fee, though they are keen to keep Vinicius at the club beyond the summer - only at a reduced cost, however.

Tottenham held talks with Benfica early in March, where they informed the Portuguese club of their intention not to pay the option-to-buy in full.
