Sean Dyche's Burnley are chasing Middlesbrough defender George Friend.
The 29-year-old has been one of Boro's most consistent performers in recent seasons and managed 27 appearances in the Premier League last term but was largely frustrated by a number of niggly injuries.
Friend was candid in his assessment of Boro's squad last month after indicating all was not harmonious within the dressing room throughout a fractious campaign.
Burnley are keen to give him the chance of a swift return to the top flight but new Boro manager Garry Monk wants to assess all his squad prior to letting anyone go.
