Brighton's Tariq Lamptey 'ruled out for the rest of the season after weekend surgery on hamstring injury' picked up in December... with 20-year-old right back's absence another blow to Graham Potter in fight for survival

Brighton's Tariq Lamptey has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a troublesome hamstring injury at the weekend in a huge blow to Graham Potter's side.

The 20-year-old, who was a star performer for the Seagulls in the opening months of the season, picked up the injury against Fulham on December 16 and has not featured since.

He went under the knife in London on Saturday to fix a tear in the tendon and though he could return to training before the season is out, he will not be fit enough to feature according to The Athletic, as Brighton look to stay in the Premier League in their 11 remaining games.
