Brighton and Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton, the only black manager in the Premier League, is backing calls for legislation similar to the NFL's Rooney Rule to ensure black and ethnic minority coaches are at the very least given a chance to be interviewed for top flight managerial and coaching roles.
The Sports People's Think Tank (SPTT) published a report on Thursday which claimed progress since 2014 has been 'minimal' in the bid to increase the number BAME candidates for senior coaching roles, with just 22 of the 482 of those roles in England's top four divisions currently held by BAME coaches.
