Brighton 0-0 Newcastle: Graham Potter's men secure Premier League safety with one game to spare in goalless home draw

Brighton secured another season of top flight football by earning a goalless draw at home to Newcastle on Monday evening.

In a game of few chances, Brighton might have been awarded a penalty after Matt Ritchie clumsily upended Neal Maupay in the first half, but Albion appeals were turned down by referee Simon Hooper.

Magpies substitute Andy Carroll missed a glaring opportunity to clinch all three points in the final five minutes, but headed wide from close range.
