Brendan Rodgers calls on social media companies to stop 'racism and discrimination on their media outlets' after Mike Dean received death threats...saying it is 'unacceptable to let people post whatever they want to online'

Brendan Rodgers has called on Government ministers to protect the football community from abuse on social media after referee Mike Dean received death threats.

Dean is due to take charge on Wednesday when Rodgers’ Leicester side meet Brighton in the FA Cup fifth round, though he will not figure in the Premier League this weekend following the abuse, which has been reported to police.

The Wirral official controversially sent off West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek at Fulham last Saturday, with the decision swiftly overturned yesterday/on Monday following an appeal.
