Arsenal have made the opening move in their bid to secure Bukayo Saka's long-term future.
The Gunners held initial talks with Saka's camp last week in which the subject of a new contract for the winger was broached.
The discussions were exploratory with no offers yet put forward for the 20 year-old.
And no decision on Saka's future will be made before the end of the season, leaving Arsenal facing an anxious wait for an indication on the likely outcome of their attempts to retain one of their key players.
Extending Saka's deal is high on Arsenal's list of summer priorities along with their squad strengthening plans.
