John Obi Mikel has left Stoke City to join Al Kuwait SC despite extending his deal with the Championship outfit just earlier this month.
Stoke activated their option to hand the former Chelsea star an extension to his contract at the start of June after the midfielder impressed over the course of the 2020-21 season.
But the 34-year-old has now linked up with the Kuwaiti Premier League side - who finished third in the division last season behind Al-Qadsia and champions Al-Arabi - on a one-year deal after cancelling his contract with Stoke by mutual consent.
