The Portland Trail Blazers have released a statement on behalf of the organization and players condemning racial injustice and emphasizing the need for mutual support, speaking out, and change. The statement comes on the heels of nation-wide protests following the death of George Floyd while in the custody of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The statement reads:
We are devastated and frustrated by the most recent senseless acts of violence in the long continuum of racial injustice in our country. The Trail Blazers organization and players grieve the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the countless others who have lost their lives in this increasingly familiar manner.
