The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly hiring Scott Brooks as the lead assistant coach on Head Coach Chauncey Billups’ new staff. If the deal is finalized, Dwight Jaynes of NBC Sports Northwest is a fan of the new hire.
Jaynes wrote that Brooks’ 12 years of head coaching experience from his stints in Oklahoma City — where he won Coach of the Year in 2010 and took the Thunder to the Finals in 2012 — and Washington will be especially valuable considering Billups’ inexperience as a head coach.
