According to Nick Faris of theScore, 23 of the NBA’s 30 teams are experiencing decreases in fan attendance. The Portland Trail Blazers, notably, are among the teams in thick of it as one of 12 teams to experience more than a 10 percent decrease in comparison to 2018-19.
Some of the reasons for that droppage — such as a global pandemic — are far more apparent. In theScore’s roundtable, they fielded observations from both Rodney Paul and Victor Matheson, sports economists from the University of Syracuse and Holy Cross respectively, as well as Alex Silverman, the Morning Consult’s sports survey data analyst.
