PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have signed midfielder Sandra Yu as a National Team Replacement player, it was announced today.
Yu, 22, will serve as a national team replacement for midfielder Andressinha, who was named to the Brazil Women’s National Team roster for the 2018 Copa América Femenina, which serves as qualifying for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Yu was selected by Portland in the first round (8th overall) of the 2018 NWSL College Draft out of Notre Dame.
National Team Replacement players can be signed when a national team player is away on international duty and will not count against the team’s 20-player roster limit.
