Samantha Mewis wins U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year

Samantha Mewis has been voted the 2020 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year. She becomes the 17th different Women’s National Team player to win the award.

Mewis has been influential in the midfield for the North Carolina Courage, Manchester City, and the USWNT. The Massachusetts native played in eight of the nine USWNT matches this season. Mewis scored four goals for the National Team with back-to-back braces against Costa Rica and Mexico in Concacaf Olympic Qualifying.

Mewis started all five of North Carolina’s matches in the NWSL Challenge Cup before moving to Manchester City.
