The Portland Timbers match this evening against the San Jose Earthquakes has been postponed. According to a club statement shared on social media, the Timbers players made the decision not to play in protest of continued police brutality and racial injustice.
Earlier today, protests were touched off by the players of the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. They made the decision to boycott their playoff game against the Orlando Magic in protest of the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. All NBA games scheduled for this evening, including the playoff game featuring the Portland Trail Blazers, were subsequently canceled.
