The Portland Timbers closed their two-week camp in Tucson, Ariz., with a 1-0 win against Real Salt Lake on Thursday in a match that was more physical and less a typical preseason friendly.
The Timbers scored less than a minute into the match when Lucas Melano converted a cross in traffic in front of the goal from Dairon Asprilla after a nice buildup from the right.
The highlight — or lowlight depending, on how you look at it — came in the 28th minute.
Timbers defender Jermaine Taylor and a Real Salt Lake player bumped going after a ball.
