The Portland Timbers are in Canada and set to play their first Cascadia Cup match of the year this evening when they take on the Vancouver Whitecaps at B.C. Place.
A win for either side would put them on top of the Cascadia standings for the year after the first match of the series played to a 0-0 between the Whitecaps and the Seattle Sounders. A win would also — at least temporarily — move either side above the San Jose Earthquakes and into 7th place in the West.
The Timbers are now nine games into their season-opening road trip and, after a rocky start, have finally pieced together a run of form thanks to some improved defensive showings from the back line all the way to the attack.
