Portland Timbers acquire General Allocation Money, Targeted Allocation Money from New York City FC

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers have acquired $75,000 of General Allocation Money and $50,000 of Targeted Allocation Money from New York City FC in exchange for the right of first refusal for winger Rodney Wallace, it was announced today.

Wallace, 28, spent the 2016-17 campaign with Portuguese Primera Liga side F.C. Arouca and Brazilian first-division club Sport Recife. After making 12 league appearances with Arouca, Wallace transferred to Sport Recife in the Brazilian Serie A, recording four goals in a 24 appearances (21 starts).

"Rodney is someone we genuinely respect as a player and person, however our focus right now is on acquiring a central defender, and it is a priority to use our existing cap space to address this positional need.
