The Portland Thorns came back from a slow start to salvage a point against their rivals, the Seattle Reign, in this evening’s 2-2 draw at Providence Park.
The Thorns were under pressure form the visitors from the opening whistle and that pressure paid off for Seattle almost immediately. As the first minute of play ticked down, the Reign were already on the board as Jess Fishlock battled past Lindsey Horan at the top of the Thorns box then ripped a shot past the dive of Adrianna Franch.
Reeling from the Reign’s early strike, the Thorns were able to put their boot on the ball and control possession in the early going, but chances were few and far between for the home side.
