The boys are back in town. Well, one of them, almost.
The Portland Timbers have acquired defender Jorge Villafaña from Liga MX side Santos Laguna using Targeted Allocation Money, the club announced in a press release today. Portland acquired the top allocation spot from the LA Galaxy in exchange for the number 16 position in the Allocation Ranking Order, $75,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) and $100,000 in 2019 TAM. Villafaña will be added to the roster as soon as his international transfer certificate clears.
Villafaña previously played with the Timbers in 2014 and 2015, winning the MLS Cup with the club in 2015.
