Lindsey Horan’s Strike in Chicago Wins NWSL Goal of the Week

Lindsey Horan won the NWSL Goal of the week for Week 2 in the fan vote for her volley into the top corner in the 9th minute to open the scoring in the Thorns’ game against the Chicago Red Stars last Saturday.

After such a hectic 90 minutes, it’s easy to forget how excellent Horan’s early goal was. Meghan Klingenberg sent in the first corner of the match, a right footed cross curling toward the top of the box. Alyssa Mautz was first to the ball, but she fell to the ground before being able to clear, giving Horan a little bit of space in a crowded box (Mautz would make up for her mistake later in the match with a brace).
