Young’s Late PK Sends Pilots Past Oregon State

PORTLAND, Ore. --- After 89 minutes of scoreless soccer, Portland redshirt-junior Kaycie Young stepped to the spot and hammered a PK into the top shelf to hand the Pilots a 1-0 win over the Oregon State Beavers on Friday night at Merlo Field. The goal is the first career game-winner for Young.

It came after the Pilots (3-6-0) were awarded the penalty after Taryn Ries was tackled from behind inside the 18. Maddie Dieker had played a ball into Ries, and the freshman did the rest, creating some space from the defender with a deft move towards the end line.
