LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Moses Wood scored 21 of his career-high 28 points in the second half as the No. 6 seed Portland Pilots pulled away from No. 7 San Diego 73-55 in the second round of the University Credit Union WCC Basketball Tournament Friday night at Orleans Arena.
The Pilots advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2017 and will face No. 3 Santa Clara on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
Wood hit a corner three-pointer to give the Pilots (18-13) a 43-37 lead early in the second half and then erupted with a series of highlight reel plays down the stretch.
