Wintering Earns WCC, National Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland junior point guard Alec Wintering garnered various weekly awards after leading the Pilots to a road sweep of Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount last week. Wintering picked up his second West Coast Conference Player of the Week honor this season and also earned national recognition.

The Charlotte, N.C. native was named the CollegeSportsMadness.com National High-Major Player of the Week and the CollegeCourtReport.com National Mid-Major Player of the Week.

Wintering averaged 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists in the two road wins. He scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists in Portland's 73-70 upset win over Pepperdine on national television Thursday night.
