PORTLAND, Ore. --- The 2016 volleyball season officially began as the Pilots held their first training of the year on Tuesday afternoon in the Chiles Center. Nine letterwinners and five starters return from last season, and they welcome five newcomers, hailing from Las Vegas and California.

The Pilots return four of their five kill leaders, graduating only Emily Liger who received All-WCC First Team recognition last season. Juniors Hannah Troutman and Sarah Savoca lead off of the 2016 season after registering 350 and 204 kills, respectively, last year.

Senior Brittney Markwith (119 blocks) and Savoca (88 blocks) led the team in blocks last fall, and Markwith recorded the second most blocks in a season in program history.
