University of Portland Mourns Passing of Hall of Fame Basketball Player Ray Foleen

Former men's basketball standout and eventual University of Portland Athletics Hall of Famer Ray Foleen passed away on Oct. 10 at the age of 92.

Born and raised in Portland, Ray attended Vestal Grade School and graduated from Washington High School before attending UP on a full-ride scholarship for basketball, graduating with a major in physics and a minor in mathematics in 1952.

Ray concluded his time with the Pilots as the school's career scoring leader with 1,199 points and led the team to the NAIA Tournament all four seasons. The team MVP as a senior, he was inducted into the University's Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993.
