PORTLAND, Ore. – For the second straight game, the Portland Pilots and junior forward Gabe Taylor pulled out late heroics to earn a victory. Taylor capped a career night by drilling a three-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to give the Pilots an 85-82 victory over the South Dakota Coyotes Friday night at the Moda Center.
The first seven Portland games of the season were all decided by double digits, but the last two have been adventurous finishes. Eleven days ago the Pilots pulled off an improbable 90-89 win in double overtime over UT-Rio Grande Valley. Portland tied the game at the end of regulation, the first overtime and then won on a Taylor tip-in in the closing seconds to win that game.
