PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of Portland has appointed Dr. Stephanie Salomone as the Faculty Athletic Representative beginning on July 1. Salomone, the first woman to serve as FAR for the Pilots, replaces long-time FAR Dr. Gary Malecha, who retired in June.
"I have so much deep respect and admiration for the skills, knowledge, and leadership of our coaches, trainers, and Athletics Department staff," Salomone said. "I am honored to be able to represent faculty interests to them, and to communicate their needs back to the faculty. Furthermore, I am excited to explore future partnerships between faculty and coaches to improve teaching on campus.
