SEATTLE, Wash. --- Portland's Darian Slaga scored 18 points and Kate Andersen added 10 to help the Pilots remain within reach of the Huskies for much of the afternoon, but Washington pulled away in the second half to prevail 93-67 in a non-conference women's basketball game on Sunday at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Slaga scored the first four points of the game for the Pilots, who led their neighbors to the north early. UW recovered with a 9-0 run, but Portland stayed close with the help of a three-pointer from Andersen. Moments later Slaga knocked down another jumper to pull the Pilots within 15-11 mid-way through the opening frame, and the Pilots were still within four when Andersen converted a fast-break lay-up off a feed from Julie Spencer.
