Second Half Scoring Drought Dooms Pilots Against Broncos

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots dropped a 60-45 decision to the Santa Clara Broncos on Thursday night before 1,706 fans in West Coast Conference basketball action at the Chiles Center. Jared Brownridge scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Broncos, while Jazz Johnson and Gabe Taylor scored 10 each to pace the Pilots.

The Pilots (9-14, 2-9 WCC) were solid defensively throughout the game, but a 8:00 scoring drought late in the second half prevented Portland from cutting into the deficit. A Taylor three-pointer with 11:07 remaining cut the margin to 47-39, but the Pilots would not score again until a pair of Johnson free throws with 3:07 remaining.
