LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Portland junior Tyler Robertson scored a game-high 31 points but the Pilots dropped an 82-71 decision to BYU in the second round of the 2023 University Credit Union West Coast Conference Basketball Tournament hosted at the Orleans Arena. The Pilots conclude the season with a 14-19 overall record, while BYU advances to face LMU in Saturday's quarterfinals.
Portland led 43-30 at the half before erupted with an 18-2 run out of halftime to take control. The Cougars gained a 44-21 rebounding edge on the night and 24-4 advantage in fast break points.
UP leading scorer Moses Wood picked up his third personal foul with 5:54 left in the first half and then was called for a technical foul which put him at four fouls with the Pilots leading by four.
