LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Portland's indoor volleyball and beach volleyball programs have received United States Marine Corps and American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic awards for the 2020-21 academic year. This is the first time that the beach team has earned the honor and the sixth time for the indoor program.
Since the 1992-93 academic year, the award has been given to teams who have maintained a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. This year, the Pilots were one of 243 NCAA Division I programs to earn the honor, an all-time record since the award's inception.
