ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The Portland Pilots swept their final match of the Lobo Classic Saturday morning at the Johnson Center. Portland topped the Mavericks in three sets, with scores of 25-23, 30, 28, and 25-13.
The Pilots (7-2) took an early lead with a six-point run headed by kills from freshman Katie Barker, and seniors Sarah Savoca and Hannah Troutman. Though Portland continued to push through the set, UTA (5-4) made a late comeback to tie up the score at 23-23. Troutman and freshman McKenzie Schwan claimed the final points with a kill and an ace.
Both teams in the third set battled to extra points, despite the Mavericks having a 21-16 lead.
