STARKVILLE, Miss. --- The Portland Pilots (6-5) dominated Florida International (5-7) in three sets Saturday Morning in the Newell-Grissom Building. The Pilots claimed the victory with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-22.
The Pilots started off the first set with kills from Maddy Mandon, Morgan Robinson, and Katie Sullivan to make the score 6-4. Hannah Troutman then added to the lead with two kills. FIU tried to gain some momentum to make it 15-11 still in favor of the Pilots, but Sullivan and Robinson stopped their run with two kills to push the lead to six. Moments later Robinson and Sullivan combined with kills again to make it 24-13, capitalizing on FIU errors, and Robinson finished up the set with a service ace to allow the Pilots to take a 1-0 lead.
