LARAMIE, Wyo. --- The Portland Pilots dominated their first match of the 2017 season topping Abilene Christian 3-0 on the opening day of the Rumble Rockies Tournament at the UniWyo Sports Complex. Portland surged through the three sets with scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-15.
The two teams started off the first set battling for points, before Portland senior Hannah Troutman and freshman Liz Reich would combine for kills to take the initial lead at 13-11. Katelyn Muller and Jacey Smith would then each register kills for Abilene Christian to tie the score 15-15. Portland answered with a three-point run headed by back-to-back kills from junior Reghan Pukis to extend the lead to 19-16.
